Waning, our Moon

As a SpaceX rocket goes up this morning, trying to penitrate our orbit for the first time, the waning fall moon bright white keeps staring me down  chanting, “You’re together again!” I don’t want it to be hyperbole, as if the moon is only shining on me…

No, therein lies some truth. I can’t actually look in his eyes, I may never get to caress my hand across his cheek, petting, kissing his face, and yet, he knows my name and words we exchange.

For me, it’s an intimacy that warms me in places I forgot and tingles with an intimacy I’ve never before felt. Cliché maybe, but my reality feels like a dream in which I’m moving always awake, always sleeping.

The last two weeks have seen trouble with my six year old first grade autistic son who got a RED note in trouble for talking at LUNCH, then he got sick, my car broke down, and I’ve been cleaning other people’s houses (one neighbor I moved their furniture to clean their floors before a new baby comes:) in order to escape my own. My other and I on opposite sides of every spectrum constantly churning with irritation…then, I think of him, a rainbow guiding me out of my storm. Good god I’m thankful.
